The weather, currently.

Hurricane Lee makes its closest approach to New England Saturday morning

Hurricane Lee continues to move steadily northward and will impact Southern New England late Friday night into the first half of Saturday.

The heaviest rain will occur south of Boston and although there could be a few showers in the city this is not a major rain event. Some parts of Cape Cod could see up to 2 in of rain but the wind over that part of the state will be strong enough gusting over 50 mph at times to produce scattered power outages. Heavy surf will also cause beach erosion but in terms of coastal flooding the maximum surge will occur at low tide so I'm not expecting a big issue.

By Saturday afternoon winds will start to diminish and any power outages that have occurred will begin to be restored.

The good news is sunshine is back by Sunday and temperatures are quite warm reaching near 80°. Have a great weekend and Happy New Year for those of you celebrating the Jewish New Year.
