A dry stretch is underway

Welcome to meteorological autumn! September 1st is when the seasons change for us meteorologists. This marks the 3 months between summer and winter and is the transitional time when daylight and temperatures really decrease the most rapid.

Sunshine will be with us right through much of next week. In addition to all the blue sky, temperatures will go from being in the 70s Friday to the 80s and even some 90s for much of next week. This could end up being the driest stretch of weather of the entire year depending on when rainfall returns. Rather ironic after one of the wettest summers on record that we're starting September on such a dry and warm note. Have a great weekend.

One of my favorite organizations, Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, serves as a hub of mutual aid efforts focused on climate action in emergencies — like Hurricane Idalia. Find mutual aid network near you and join, or donate to support networks in Florida:
