Currently in Boston — October 31, 2023: Wet weather comes to an end

Plus, a frigid Halloween night nationwide.

The weather, currently.

Wet weather comes to an end

On Tuesday you can expect lots of sunshine but temperatures will be much cooler than average, staying in the 40s.

Another front and a low pressure area get close to us on Tuesday night and Wednesday. There may be a few showers and even some steady rain well south of Boston Wednesday. The big theme is going to be the colder air that moves in for Wednesday night. This should be the first widespread frost and even freeze of the season. It's a good idea to get your plants inside over the next couple of days. Temperatures will be in the 40s on Wednesday with the cloud cover.

It's near 50 after that cold start for Thursday. And the dry weather should continue into the weekend.

What you need to know, currently.

Temperatures 10 to 25°F colder than normal will shroud most of the United States on Halloween, bringing a chill to any planned spooky festivities.

Freeze warnings stretch from southern California to Louisiana to eastern Pennsylvania, and some places like western North Dakota may even dip below zero Fahrenheit on Tuesday morning.

If you have a Halloween costume that’s winter-adaptable, I’d recommend it. Like maybe “Lavender Haze” Taylor instead of “Shake it Off” Taylor??
