Currently in Boston — June 28, 2024: Stunning Friday, mixed weekend

After a beautiful Thursday the weather gets even better for Friday. Look for a low levels of humidity and wall to wall sunshine to end the work week. Temperature will start in the 50s and rise to the 70s in the afternoon Friday.

Humidity is still comfortable Saturday morning, but slowly goes up in the evening. This is the forerunner of more showers and high humidity for Sunday. Temperatures will be in the 80s that day. Some of those showers could contain downpours and thunder. The showers end Sunday evening and it's back to more sunshine next week with readings in the 70s.

What you can do, currently.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
