Currently in Boston — July 23, 2024: Showers likely

The weather, currently.

Humidity levels increased on Monday and this will be the case for the next several days. Showers are likely for Tuesday especially in the morning and there could be a few additional ones in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 with the cloud cover.

I expect more warm and humid conditions on Wednesday with readings in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Again there's a chance for a few showers and storms. Nights will be warm and somewhat uncomfortable with readings readings in the 60s and lower 70s.

As we had for Friday, sunshine returns and the chance of rain disappears. This beautiful weather should continue into the upcoming weekend.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
