Currently in Boston — July 24, 2024: Warmer Air Coming

The weather, currently.

After a cool and clammy Wednesday it becomes milder for Thursday with still a lot of clouds and warm temperatures. Highs will be 78-83 in the afternoon. Sunshine returns for Friday with warm air and lower humidity. It will be an amazing day with the dew points in the lower 60s and highs in the mid-80s. It turns warmer for the weekend, but still comfortable levels of humidity. High in Boston should be about 87 on Saturday and 89 on Sunday, it might not be that warm at Logan Airport, but it will be just west of the beaches. Enjoy the upcoming weather.

What you can do, currently.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
