Currently in Boston — August 12, 2024: A mainly dry week

Plus, independent climate journalism needs your support, now more than ever

The weather, currently.

Mainly Dry Week

After a gorgeous Sunday the weather continues to be quite nice this week.

Monday features some clouds as a mid-level system starved of moisture moves over the area. There is a small chance of a showers, but it would limited if at all.

Tuesday through Friday is warm and dry with highs in the 80-85 degree range along with lots of sunshine and low humidity. The nice weather may come to an end next weekend with more clouds and perhaps a shower, but this is not a sure bet by any means as any frontal showers appear to be limited. Humidity may increase this weekend again.

What you can do, currently.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
