Currently in Boston — August 7, 2024: A continued chance of showers

The weather, currently.
A continued chance of showers
The boundary between less humid air and higher dew points continues to be located through southern New England. This means that we will be a focal point for showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. Some of these showers could contain some heavier downpours but not everybody will see a tremendous amount of rain. Afternoon readings will be 70 to 75.
We get a drier day on Thursday with some sunshine. Temperatures will reach the lower 70s to 80s.
Most of the remnants from Debby will head west of southern New England Friday through early Saturday, but nevertheless a few showers are likely with a lot of humidity and temperatures in the 70s. Sunday is the better weekend day.

What you can do, currently.
A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.
Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
