Currently in Boston — August 26, 2024: A Stormy Monday is possible

The weather, currently.

After a weekend of nice weather, things go downhill for Monday.

Clouds should become more dominant and some showers and thunderstorms should develop, especially in the afternoon. Some of these could actually be severe. If you do get one of these storms, it's not out of the question that you see some hail as well. Temperatures will be around 80° with moderate levels of humidity.

On Tuesday it's back to sunshine and warm conditions with readings in the lower 80s. Unsettled weather returns for one day on Wednesday before drier and cooler air arrives for the rest of the week.

What you can do, currently.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
